MALIA THOMPSON, CCH, CCN
HERBALIST - grower - forager - formulator - EDUCATOR
INTEGRATIVE WELLNESS COACH – CHEERLEADER
My name is Malia Thompson. As a child of hippie parents during the 70’s in Flagstaff, Arizona, I grew up with a close connection with nature. Campfires were our dining room and entertainment center; rushing rivers were our roller coasters; and the animals, rocks, plants, and trees were our teachers. My elders were guides for building community, happiness, and respect for our earth. I am forever grateful for these experiences, and shaping who I am today.
I received my training in the Vitalist tradition of western herbalism and nutrition at the Colorado School for Clinical Herbalism in Boulder, Colorado. Vitalism has roots dating back to Hippocrates in the 4th Century BC. Vitalism means to examine, investigate, and remove obstacles to health on all levels – physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. It incorporates all aspects of science, specifically physiology and pathophysiology, and equally values knowledge from ancient herbal traditions, empirical observation, instinct, and intuition. Everything we need can be found in nature. I work with herbs, nutrition and lifestyle changes to educate and empower my clients to take charge of their own health. I am a certified herbalist and nutritionist with at least 1600 classroom hours, as well as case work, continuing education in herbalism, nutrition, physiology, and flower essences for emotional support. I am eager to share this knowledge with those who are ready to take charge of their health and wellness. |
